Marty Podskoch, a retired Middle School teacher, has written
Fire Towers of the Catskills: Their History and Lore (Purple Mountain Press, 2000) and Adirondack Fire Towers: Their History and Lore, The Southern Districts (Purple Mountain Press, 2003), Adirondack Fire Towers: Their History and Lore, The Northern Districts (Purple Mountain Press, 2005) after traveling far and wide interviewing the rangers and observers and their families who have been associated with the towers. He also lectures throughout the Catskills and Adirondacks and offers slide shows about his research.
