No Parking Genesis
Traditionally, there has been a no parking on the North Side of Main Street Ordinance in effect. When former mayor, Barbara Cherry applied for, and received a grant to replace the Main Street water main, it necessitated the tearing up and replacing of the streets and sidewalks. The no parking signs had to be taken out to facilitate this project.

For whatever reason, probably economic, the street signs were never replaced and apparently, the State Police couldn't issue a summons without them. Under a directive from former Mayor Don Kearney, the Planning Board was to come up with a new parking plan for the whole Village. They did so and submitted it to the Village Board but their recommendations were not ratified.

Part of their recommendation was to reinstate no parking on the North Side of Main Street because it was deemed a hazard, both because of restricting access of emergency vehicles, and because it almost daily caused vehicular collisions at the junction of Main Street and Halcott Road.
