Fleischmanns Volunteer Fire Department #1
The Fleischmanns' Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1921. Different buildings have housed the department since that time. Many of you are familiar with our last building located across Main Street from the Wilber Bank. That structure was in poor repair and not large enough to house all of the equipment making it necessary to rent and heat additional space. We now have a new firehouse on Main Street, located across the Street from Sayde's.
The new firehouse is large enough to house all the equipment. Its new location makes for quicker and safer response to emergencies. To complete the project, we still need a septic system, bathrooms and other fininshing touches, including a meeting room.
The project to date has been made possible through your generous donations. No tax money has been used in its construction. We are now ready to complete our next stage. With your continued help, we can make the firehouse a center that can better serve our community into the 21st. century.
