What we learned: The proper procedures used by law enforcement
officers to detect and gather compute crime evidence and ways to
safeguard data and systems. We were also updated on New York State
computer crime laws and the latest trends in computer and technology crime.

Electronic Signatures &
Records Act (ESRA): Unleashing the
Potential of Electronic Commerce
What we learned: This
presentation discussed ESRA's
components, recent progress in implementing the act, and its likely impact on
records and information managers in the public and private sector.
Program was presented by Alan S. Kowlowitz, a Program Technology
Analyst with the New York State Office of Technology (OFT). He is a member of
the Electronic Signatures and Records Act (ESRA) Team. ESRA provides that
"signatures" made via electronic means will be legally binding just
as hand-written signatures now are. The law also enhances and clarifies the
authority of government to create and retain electronic records.

issues relating to spatial data. Internet and e-commerce applications
of demographic information. What is a Geographic Information System
(GIS) and how it is used to address business needs. And uses of spatial
data to improve business processes, develop new markets, reduce risk, and
manage assets. Program presented by MapInfo.
