About Images...
Please note: Catskill On Line does not offer technical support
for placing photos on e-bay or similar service. We
provide the following information as a guide only and suggest that you print and read all
of the following information.
An image needs to be a .gif
or .jpg
file to be visible on a web site.
- If you named your image mom.jpg
then uploaded it to your web space, you can view it in your web browser by typing in the
following address/URL (in your web browser) and hitting the 'enter' or 'return' key (substitute
your real user name for what is in red below):
http://www.catskill.net/yourusername/mom.jpg
If you wanted to ad this image to a listing on e-bay that is the
address you would use. If you get a 404
not found error, it means that you have incorrectly typed the address, name of the
image or have not uploaded the image file to your web space.
Remember that all files are case sensitive.
If you named your file/image using capital letters or lower case letters, be sure that
you use the exact file name.

To prepare your own photographs for viewing on
a web site you will need to use software.
We have used and like Adobe Photodeluxe .
If you purchased a scanner in the past year, Photodeluxe or similar software probably came
with it. (please note that Catskill On Line does not offer support for scanners
or Adobe Photodeluxe)
A trial version of the software is available to download from the Adobe
web site at: http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/photodeluxe/main.html.
We also recommend the book Adobe
Photodeluxe for Dummies.
It includes a trial version of the software on CD. You can purchase the book from Amazon.com
by clicking here.
