Windows 95 Locks Up |
One of our users had trouble with Windows95 locking up
while using Netscape. Our Help Desk worked with him as did Catskill On Line personnel.
The user eventually called his hardware vendor. The hardware
vendor suggested reducing the video acceleration and the problem was solved.
If you are experiencing strange behavior, it might be worth
a try. If you are unfamiliar with this process please have a computer
professional assist you with this.
This would likely apply to other applications as well.

How Do I Connect to AOL? |
- AOL customers can use
Catskill On Line Internet access as a "gateway" to AOL without making a long-distance
phone call! If you have an AOL account... You must contact AOL (800-827-6364) and
tell them you will be using a 'local ISP' to access their service, otherwise you will
continue to be billed at your current rate from AOL. Also ask the AOL Representative
how to configure your AOL browser to use a "TCP Connection"
or use the instructions below.
If you are having a problem with any other aspect of your AOL software or AOL account,
you must call AOL directly at 800-827-6364.
NOTE: It is your responsibility to contact AOL to receive the discounted service
and to ensure that you are no longer dialing AOL. Any fees incurred from AOL or for
your continued use of their access number is the sole responsibility of the end user
and not that of Catskill On Line.
-
- Configuring
AOL via Catskill On Line for Windows 95
With the advent of AOL's "$9.95/month for unlimited access if you connect via
ISP" billing plan, many customers want to connect to AOL through a local ISP to
save money. This document provides you with instructions on how to connect to
AOL through an ISP.
Note: Install AOL's software before installing setup software. This ensures that
Windows 95's network settings are properly configured for your ISP.
-
Configure AOL to
connect via Catskill On Line:
First, you must remove the AOL Adapter from the Windows 95 Network:
From the Windows 95 Control Panel, double-click Network.
Select AOL Adapter from the list of installed network
components.
Click Remove.
Click OK.
If you're prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.
Next configure
AOL to use your Catskill On Line:
Once your computer has restarted, launch the AOL application.
Click Setup.
Click Create Location.
Fill in the following information:
Location: your ISP AOL
Modem Speed: 57600(both sides)
Network: TCP/IP(both sides)
Click Save
Select your ISP AOL and Click OK.
Close AOL, launch your ISP connection, and launch AOL.
Connect with AOL.
Now you can connect to AOL via Catskill On Line.
